POWERSTEP01 chip replacement

Signal proposes an electronic module that can replace the STM POWERSTEP01 chip.

The module works in Current Mode and is based on a different STM chip (L6482H) with compatible software and external power part based on high efficiency MOSFETs.

The module connects to the motherboard via a series of lines (SPI) for setting the parameters like currents, step fraction (full step, half step, …. ). It is also possible to drive the chip via the clock line (STEP).

With this module, retouching the basic circuit in a very simple way, you can replace the POWERSTEP01 to have more efficiency / current or resolve supply problems.
